A Vow Renewal Ceremony ~ Blomquist Pavillion, Duke Gardens

Dalila and Davor have been married for seventeen years now and set aside a beautiful spring afternoon to renew their marriage vows to each other.  They had originally been married during the Bosnian War, which was a sad time for their families.  Following their move to the United States, their work and their boys took up a lot of their energy, so this vow renewal gave them the opportunity to focus on one another - their love and commitment to each other.  The Blomquist Pavillion in the Natives Garden of Duke Gardens provided a romantic setting for this intimate ceremony with their two boys and Dalila's mother.  I felt honored to be invited to capture the love and joy of this day in images.



 Davor's ring was engraved in Bosnian as Dalila and Davor are originally from Bosnia. Part of their vows were spoken in Bosnian as well.

 












 Their beautiful rings were created at Jewelsmith.


The harp by Pavelid and the soprano by Summer filled the forest with elegant music.



























 Now that I've shown the romantic and beautiful part of the ceremony, this blog post wouldn't be complete without the humorous side of the event... The little boys added to the fun of the ceremony with their big sticks, muddy feet, accidental pond swims, and sparkling apple juice to celebrate with!

Fun with Cousins

Emeline was invited to spend a weekend at the beach where her Lobdell cousins have their new home.  I've posted a few photos of the three of them playing at the park and then at the beach.  Thanks Stratton and Laura for a fun visit!

Melissa, Kevin, Jonah & Baby ~ Maternity Session, Durham, NC

I am lucky enough to live in a neighborhood with wonderful neighbors. Not only are they friendly, but they all seem to be having babies! Melissa told me that she was pregnant again last autumn when we were making plans for the neighborhood Halloween party. Her little baby is due in spring, so we headed out amongst the blooming cherry trees and early spring flowers to photograph her and her beautiful family. She is so lovely and her laid back family was a delight to photograph. I can't wait to see what this baby looks like when I return to photograph her sweet newborn baby - it won't be long!
